想要寫出好的作文，就要多閱讀別人寫的文章，並從中選取適當的字詞與描述手法運用到自己的文章，藉此來增添文章的豐富度。

花時間看清圖片，不要離題 、觀察人物與背景、寫出「人事時地物」。
主角是誰?
出現在什麼樣的時空背景?
人物的表情及動作，試著將人物與背景的關係建立起來。
圖片所給的東西盡可能地敘述完整，但這不代表圖上沒有的東西不可以寫入文章。
只要是合理且有助於故事發展的內容，都可以盡情發揮，但要避免提及無關緊要的細節。 例如，明明是講喝酒，卻一直提宴會的食物很好吃，見到朋友很開心...，這樣會模糊焦點。
要「深入的細節」，而非「廣雜的細節」。 例如，當要敘述一個戀人在公園裡等待對方到來的情境，很多同學描寫過多公園的景色，模糊了重點。要寫的細節應該是對戀人培養情緒有用的背景，例如戀人不斷看到有好多情侶檔手牽手，或者可以寫戀人是如何期待這次的約會，買了最好看的洋裝、項鍊，或是寫她在公園引頸期盼的表情、動作，這些才是「深入的細節」。
用字：記敘文要用確切的單字，不宜用太艱深的單字。善用片語、轉折語，句型可以有變化，但不宜太花俏。

從單字本找出適合自己使用的英文單字和片語。
可以發揮創意想像力，但劇情過程必須合理化：圖片與圖片之間都有一個過程，一定要清楚交代每兩張圖片之間所發生的事。這些都是你一開始設定故事大綱時就要底定的，最好不要邊寫邊想。
平均分配每張圖和圖與圖之間的字數：通常中間的圖片會是故事的重心所在，結尾的圖片可能會是故事的高潮點，此時字數可以多一些，但比例仍不能過於失衡。
Point of view / 取名：可以試著由不同的角度去寫看圖作文，但所使用的人或動物必須在三張圖片中皆有出現，故事主角一定要有名字，比較好稱呼。
注意時態。
看圖作文多是記敘文，因此時態以過去式為主。但若是對話中的文字，則應以當時所欲表達的時態為主來表示。 next day -> the next day / yesterday -> the previous day / after three weeks -> three weeks later / today morning -> this morning
注意不規則動詞的過去式。
有創意但不失合理化的結尾：看圖作文結尾往往是劇情高潮，所以最好寫很有創意的情節。 Tim woke up in a tidy office, not knowing when it was and where he was. Then, a policeman walked toward him angrily. Yawning loudly, he took a closer look.
